Hi my name's Caroline Barnes, Max Factor's make-up artist and I'm now going to show you how to do `The Wing'. Well, The Wing is inspired by today's pop stars and is a big look for eyeliner in 2008 and it's a very dramatic effect so I think it's best to keep this look just for after dark.
For this look, because we're covering quite a large surface area of your eye, we need quite high performance eye liner so that's where Glide & Define is perfect because it goes on very, very quickly. So because it's such a big shape on your eye, I'm going to trace the shape with black kohl pencil. I'm going to use Max Factor kohl pencil in black, we start from the inside, and I'm going to work the shape in conjunction with my eyebrow. So I'm going to take the highest point up to my eyebrow here and cover most of the lid.
So if you close your eye for me, I'm just going to use the side of the kohl pencil and then bring it up just to the outside of the brow here and then bring it down. And just go over that a little bit more so you're really going over the whole entirety of your eyeball and just taking it up - quite a thick line - to the outer corner of your eyebrow. And just trace the colour in like this - this gives you a great shape. Try it on the other eye and match it all up before you start with the liquid eyeliner, but it's very important to get this on first so that it gives you a great depth to your shape. It's a very dense colour and it's important to get the base coat on first for it to last a lot longer and be heavier.
So now I'm going to take the glide and define and I'm going to use the side of the wand just to get a beautiful colour onto the lid and go right over the shape that you've aready done. And you can see now that it gives a really precise finish to our shape. Take it down towards the lash line so you can see it strengthens everything up and gives a really dynamic look. Take the liner all the way down to the lash line so you can see it's creating a really sharp, graphic edge to our look. And then just pat in - fill in the centre with the side of the felt-tip brush to give that real block finish. And just open your eye for me - fabulous.
So to finish off it has to be Max Factor Masterpiece in black - we want full on fat lashes and this is the only mascara that can do that for us. So we're going to start from the underneath first and then do the top lashes. So just look up for me - that's great - just use the wand to put the mascara in place and just lay the lashes down so they're not all entwined with each other and they're laying flat. And look down for me Simone, that's great, wiggle the mascara wand just at the base of your lashes almost as if your blow-drying your lashes, you're trying to place your lashes at a certain angle. It's really important to have a big lash effect to make sure that your eyes stay nice and wide.
Simone I think you look incredibly striking. The dark, graphic eyes against your alabaster skin is really beautiful. It's a perfect look for the night.
